IDPA
International Defensive Pistol Association
IDPA is an acronym for the "International Defensive Pistol Association".
It is a gun "game" where off the shelf, stock, service pistols are used.
The scoring is a combination of time and accuracy.  IDPA tests the skills
of the shooter and not the cost and customization of the gun that a person
can afford.  You compete with others shooting the same class of gun as
you as well as against shooters of your same skill level.  It is a game that
is meant to be fun and competitive.

IDPA will help you with gun handling skills as we do magazine changes, one
handed shooting, "off" handed shooting, shooting from behind cover and
shooting while moving.  The intent of our courses of fire are to simulate as
reasonable as shooter safety will allow us to, situations where one may
need to defend themselves with a handgun.  It is a game where you have
to think as well as shoot fast and accurate.  It is a great way to practice
and to keep sharp for those who have a concealed carry permit.

To compete in an IDPA practice or match, all that is needed is a stock
pistol or revolver, .38 caliber or larger, a holster, 2 magazines, magazine
pouch, eye and ear protection.  We shoot every Tuesday evening starting
at 6PM.  We hold the classifier the first Sunday of February, May,
August, and November beginning at noon.  The IDPA classifier is a
"standards" match where the course of fire is determined by the IDPA
board of directors.  It is a standard shoot that is shot the same at every
IDPA club in the world.  This shoot will officially "classify" any IDPA
member, so that if they choose to participate in any IDPA sanctioned
match, they will be sure to be competing against shooters of a like skill
level.
IDPA classifiers will be held on November 4,
2007.  Contact Tom Wills at 330-769-3084, or
