WORK PARTIES
This is the most wondered about item of the club.

There is always the [Who, What, Were, When, Why & How] of work parties.

1.  I don’t want to do work parties – then pay $289.38 and don’t hunt – your all set.

2.  Why do I have to do work parties –
[Let me say that in my neighbor hood, I see neighbors pay $25.00 to have there
grass mowed. This, times four equals one acre of mowing, would come to $100.00
dollars. Now, times that by 400 acres and we have $4000.00 per week time 4 weeks
a month, times 6 months a year, looks like $96,000.00 just to care for the land alone]
[Ok, one more step 96,000 divided by 600 members shows your commitment for land
general conservation alone should be $160.00 dollars a year, what about the rest of
SCSA interests]
We want you to be a member and we really want to keep your dues as low as
possible.

3.  I am physically challenged (or handicapped), do I still have to do a work party –
The board can make an exception, BUT, will your thumb touch your first finger, then
you might be able to push the button for a work party. If you can fold paper into thirds
you can another work party. Do you have any skills, we can use them in a work party.

4.  I don’t have time to do work parties – Work Parties are scheduled for up to a 3
hour span of time, some last only one hour.

5.  How do I find out what the work parties are –
Once you become a member go to [Members Only] section then click on the
Board and Committee members contact list.  Call each one and ask what can
I do for you to get a WORK PARTY sticker? You are on your way.

6.  Ok, BUT – I’m not a member yet, what are some of the work parties –
Fold newsletters, push the release button, accumulate scores at a shoot, serve food
at an event, mow grass, cut weeds, plant conservation plants, paint, fix, clean up, cut
wood, split wood, help build, helping out on almost anything, put up signs.
Do you have an idea, bring it to the board, maybe it will become a work party.

7.  After you become a member please look at the monthly calendar in the
newsletter to find out who is in charge of the work party.  EVERY activity can
use help, and many times the newsletter asks directly for help for certain
activities.

8.  Some of the SCSA interests are:  Archery - Black Powder - Pistol - Small Bore -
BB-Pellet - Fishing – Clam Bake - Trap - Skeet - Field Trial – OX Roast - Five Stand -
Hi-Power - Sporting Clays - Youth - Picnics - CCW - Hunters Ed – IDPA- Crawfish Boil
-  (each one has something that needs to be done that would count for a work party)

responsible for work party stickers. I got my stickers but my spouse wants to hunt – then your
spouse needs stickers also. My spouse attended 10 work parties and I want to hunt – then you
need to attend some work parties.)
